Winter Editions is a literary small press with a particular focus on poetry and its intersections with the essay, the novel, and the visual and performing arts, as well as books that investigate print culture and poetics.

WE supports writing which pursues an “other” way—opposing generic constructs and codified forms, or offering unfamiliar, outsider, or marginalized perspectives. Just as these works derive meaning from their publishing contexts, WE finds its purpose reciprocally through their slow and steady publication.

At WE, the editor does the work of publishing, from acquisitions to design and production, collaborating with writers, translators, artists, and scholars to shape ideas into forms and manuscripts into books. Dreaming of social and aesthetic engagement beyond commodity, hierarchy, and exclusion, WE publishes for readers who desire intimate, unquantified relations.

Most of WE’s publications take the form of accessibly priced, high-quality paperbacks distributed to the general book trade, at a pace of six to eight titles per year. As time allows and whims appear, WE also releases special editions, chapbooks, pamphlets, broadsheets, and ephemeral prints. All publications are included in the WE subscription.

For a full list of publications, both printed and planned, see here.

PURCHASE

To support WE’s unpredictable publishing program, readers can purchase books from the publisher’s site a la carte or by subscription; through our main distributor, Small Press Distribution; or through independent bookstores dealing directly with us or our distributor. WE books are not discounted on our website so as not to compete with the bookstores that carry our publications. To place an order for a bookstore or library orders, please see here.
